Just passing through I & II

MFA body of work, NAS Gallery + Printmaking studios, Sydney, 2020.

Just passing through explores themes of place, movement and passing of time specifically with reference to Australian rural and suburban areas. Utilising the combined processes of linocut and collage, I aim to evoke a sense of landscape rather than portray specific scenes. The impressions are a conceptual mapping of that experience of moving through sites. Landscape is not translated in these works as a direct representation of the subject, but rather as an accumulation of elements, experiences and memories. It is through this where I am able to gain an enhanced understanding of my surroundings.
